These shrimp are peaceful and will not harm other aquarium inhabitants or plants. They are hardier and easier to care for than Caridina species. Their small bio-load means that they are an excellent addition to low-tech and planted tanks.
Water Parameters:
Temperature: 66-78°F
pH: 7.0-7.4
KH: 3-14
GH: 5-8
Tank Size: 2 gallons minimum for a group
Purchase Size: 0.25 inches
Adult Size: 1.25 inches
Care and Feeding:
Because of their small size, sensitivity to water quality, and tendency to graze on algae, biofilm, and decaying plant matter, these shrimp do not require large amounts of food. In a well-established, planted tank, they can be fed daily, or as little as twice a week. They will feed on blanched vegetables, Katappa (Indian Almond) leaves, commercial food such as flakes, pellets, shrimp sticks, or algae wafers, or frozen bloodworms to encourage breeding.
Compatible Tank Mates:
These dwarf shrimp and their babies will be eaten by larger fish, such as cichlids, angelfish, gourami, and goldfish. They are best kept with small, peaceful fish, such as neon tetras, small rasboras, guppies, or pygmy corydoras, or in a shrimp-only tank. Hiding spots such as caves or large plants will encourage breeding.
